The New York Islanders recalled defenseman Griffin Reinhart from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League on Monday.
Reinhart's call-up comes with the status of defenseman Travis Hamonic in doubt heading into the Eastern Conference First Round Series against the Washington Capitals. Hamonic appeared to sustain a lower-body injury Friday against the Pittsburgh Penguins and didn't play in the regular-season finale Saturday against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Islanders coach Jack Capuano had no update Monday on Hamonic and said he wasn't sure if he'd play in Game 1 on Wednesday (7 p.m. ET; USA, TVA Sports, SN, CSN-DC), according to ESPN.com. Hamonic had five goals, 33 points and 85 penalty minutes along with a plus-15 rating in 71 games this season.
Reinhart, 21, made his NHL debut this season with one assist in eight games. He was the fourth pick in the 2012 NHL Draft.
