At the Rink: Oilers at Red Wings

DETROIT -- The Detroit Red Wings (36-17-11) and the Edmonton Oilers (18- 37-11) each will attempt to bounce back from losses Sunday when they play Monday at Joe Louis Arena.

Neither team skated Monday morning.

Detroit lost its second consecutive game when it fell 5-3 to the Boston Bruins on Sunday. The Red Wings were the last team in the NHL this season to not lose two straight in regulation.

The Red Wings haven't been sharp (1-2-0) since acquiring defenseman Marek Zidlicky and forward Erik Cole at NHL Trade Deadline. They were outplayed last Wednesday before pulling off a 2-1 overtime win against the New York Rangers behind 39 saves from goalie Jimmy Howard.

"I don't think it's affected our chemistry at all," Detroit coach Mike Babcock said. "We have a better team. We haven't played as good. I don't think it has to do with chemistry at all. We came back from a long road trip and got comfortable, feeling pretty good about ourselves, didn't dig in and there's not much to pick between teams.

"As soon as you come off it, things don't go very well for you. So it's a sense of urgency for us here today. We got to dig back in and get playing."

Edmonton lost 7-4 at the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday after leading 3-0 in the second period, and didn't have forward Benoit Pouliot because of an illness.

"We used four different wingers in that spot for the first couple of periods," Oilers coach Todd Nelson said after the game. "It does throw things out of whack. Obviously when you've got a guy like [Pouliot], a big, rangy guy that can eat minutes and is very effective, you miss him out of the lineup."

Oilers center Anton Lander will return from a shoulder injury Monday. He missed seven games.

"I thought he was playing excellent hockey when he got injured," Nelson said. "We was playing a real solid game. Him going back into the middle will certainly help us."

Here are the projected lineups:
