Jacob Jaremko wins Minnesota's Mr. Hockey Award

Elk River center Jacob Jaremko, No. 107 on NHL Central Scouting's midterm list of the top North American skaters eligible for the 2015 NHL Draft, has won Minnesota's prestigious Mr. Hockey Award as the outstanding senior high school boys' hockey player in the state.

The Mr. Hockey Award is chosen by NHL scouts, junior-hockey scouts and coaches, and select media members from around Minnesota. The announcement was made Sunday at the Grand Ballroom at RiverCentre in St. Paul, Minn.

Jaremko (5-11, 170) led Elk River (20-4-1) with 68 points (22 goals, 46 assists) in 25 regular-season games. Jaremko, who averaged 2.72 points-per game, will attend Minnesota State University.

"Jacob's game is speed and quickness," NHL Central Scouting's Greg Rajanen said. "He's got a very good burst out of the blocks and shows a second gear off the rush. He's more of a passer than shooter but he can finish."

Jaremko had three goals and 11 points in three playoff games for Elk River. The Elks were defeated by Duluth East, 5-4, in the Class 7AA tournament final.
