Flames will be as aggressive as they can: report

The Calgary Flames plan to be "as aggressive as we can" heading into the NHL Trade Deadline at 3 p.m. ET on March 2, general manager Brad Treliving told Sportsnet 690 Radio on Friday.

"I wouldn’t say I'm close. Things can change. We’re talking. There’s lots of conversations going on," Treliving said, according to Nichols on Hockey. "Are we imminent? We hope; we expect and anticipate to get some business done. But again, I don't know. You need somebody to say yes on the other line too.

"So we're going to be as aggressive as we can. We'll see where that gets us."

Last week forward Curtis Glencross confirmed he submitted a list of teams where he would accept a trade.

"If the right opportunity comes along and the management asks me to do that kind of thing, that's where we're at," Glencross said, according to the Calgary Herald.

The Flames also could be without captain Mark Giordano for an undetermined time. The defenseman has an upper-body injury and is unlikely to play Friday at the New York Islanders.

Treliving earlier said he would not make a trade to keep up with other Western Conference contenders who were making trades. Since then the Winnipeg Jets acquired forward Jiri Tlusty, the Minnesota Wild traded for forward Sean Bergenheim, and the Los Angeles Kings acquired defenseman Andrej Sekera.

The Flames, Kings, Wild and Jets each have from 70 to 74 points in the standings.
