Fantasy Spin: Smith-Pelly, Tlusty get new chances

Two forwards debuted with new teams Thursday, and as expected were given some good opportunities.

Devante Smith-Pelly (4 percent owned in Yahoo leagues, LW/RW) played his first game for the Montreal Canadiens, a 5-2 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets. After starting on the fourth line with Brandon Prust and Jacob De La Rose, Smith-Pelly played most of the final two periods with Tomas Plekanec and Alex Galchenyuk.

Smith-Pelly, who arrived in a trade from the Anaheim Ducks, got 1:23 of power-play time on a second unit with Plekanec, Galchenyuk and defensemen Nathan Beaulieu and Tom Gilbert.

Smith-Pelly was minus-1 with two shots, four hits and one block in 17:11. He had played that much once for the Ducks since Jan. 1.

De La Rose scored his first two NHL goals in the third period, one into an empty net. He played 14:19 in his 12th game.

Jiri Tlusty (5 percent owned, LW) played his first game for the Winnipeg Jets, a 2-1 shootout loss to the St. Louis Blues, almost exclusively with Mark Scheifele and Drew Stafford.

Tlusty, who arrived in a trade from the Carolina Hurricanes, played 25 seconds of Winnipeg's only power play with Stafford, Michael Frolik and defensemen Dustin Byfuglien and Toby Enstrom.

Tlusty had two shots, two hits and one block in 16:56.

Defenseman Andrej Sekera did not play for the Los Angeles Kings against the Ottawa Senators after arriving Thursday morning following his trade from the Hurricanes.
