Fantasy Spin: Potential Kane replacements

Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane sustained an upper-body injury in the first period of a 3-2 shootout win against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday and did not return. Coach Joel Quenneville said after the game that Kane will miss some time and will be re-evaluated on Wednesday.

Kane is tied with Washington Capitals forward Nicklas Backstrom and Philadelphia Flyers forward Jakub Voracek for the League lead in scoring with 64 points; his 1.07 points per game are tied for second with Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin.

You can't replace that type of production, but there are a few players you could try and acquire.

Kane, who skated with Patrick Sharp and Brad Richards and played 2:14, was replaced by Kris Versteeg (27 percent owned in Yahoo leagues, LW, RW). Versteeg had a goal and has four goals in six games and has 13 goals and 31 points. He's also a plus-13 and has 23 penalty minutes.

A few others to consider: Carolina Hurricanes forward Alexander Semin (32 percent owned, LW, RW; has five assists in his past six games), New York Rangers forward Carl Hagelin (23 percent owned, LW), Vancouver Canucks forward Zack Kassian (3 percent owned, RW; has four goals in his past three games and is playing on a line with Henrik and Daniel Sedin), and Florida Panthers Jonathan Huberdeau (38 percent owned, C, LW; nine goals, 33 points).

- In what was likely his first of many starts in place of injured Ryan Miller, Canucks goalie Eddie Lack made 40 saves in a 2-1 win against the Boston Bruins. This followed a 27-save performance in a 4-0 win in relief against the New York Islanders on Sunday.

Lack (33 percent owned) is 7-7-2 with a .921 save percentage and a .921 save percentage. After a rough start to the season, he has allowed six goals in his past four games.

-The Bruins were without David Krejci, who could miss the remainder of the season with a knee injury. In his place, Ryan Spooner (less than 1 percent owned, C) skated with David Pastrnak and Milan Lucic. Spooner played a season-high 16:25 and has one assist in seven games this season, and is worth monitoring if the Bruins don't make any moves at the NHL Trade Deadline, and he remains on that line.

- New York Islanders goalie Chad Johnson (4 percent owned) made 28 saves in a 5-1 win against the Arizona Coyotes. He's 8-7-1 with a .890 save percentage and 2.95 GAA, but likely will get more playing time down the stretch with the Islanders wanting to rest players prior to the start of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
