New Sabres defenseman Bogosian on trade to Buffalo

Buffalo Sabres defenseman Zach Bogosian joined NHL Live to discuss the trade that sent him, forward Evander Kane and goalie prospect Jason Kasdorf to Buffalo.

Bogosian will get to play near his hometown of Massena, N.Y.

"It's an emotional time," Bogosian said. "You don't wake up and go to the rink thinking you're going to be traded that day. But when it happens the emotions kind of calm down. When everything kind of calmed down I was pretty excited about it."

The No. 3 pick in the 2008 NHL Draft, Bogosian has three goals and 13 points in 41 games, and 40 goals and 127 points in his NHL career. Sabres general manager Tim Murray lauded Bogosian for his athleticism, character and leadership, attributes Bogosian hopes to bring to Buffalo.

"I'm hoping to have a bigger role than I had in Winnipeg," Bogosian said. "As far as leadership off the ice I think some people forget I'm only 24 and I've been around for seven years but it's gone by quickly. I'll just try to be a shoulder to lean on for anyone who has questions and I'm going to be leaning on those guys as well because it's a new situation for me. I'm just really looking forward to kind of a fresh start and getting things going with the guys."
