Anaheim Ducks general manager Bob Murray is in the market for a defenseman, Cam Fowler told the Los Angeles Times on Thursday.
"[Murray] has been pretty adamant about trying to add another D-man," Fowler, a defenseman, told the newspaper. "We feel comfortable with the group we have, but if there's somebody who can be brought in to help us, that's always good too."
In an interview with ESPN.com on Tuesday, Murray denied reports that he talked to the Buffalo Sabres about trading for defenseman Tyler Myers. Myers came off the market Wednesday when he was traded to the Winnipeg Jets as part of the package that brought forward Evander Kane to Buffalo.
Anaheim is 11 points ahead of the San Jose Sharks for first place in the Pacific Division and three behind the Nashville Predators for first in the Western Conference entering play Thursday. The Ducks have allowed 30 goals in their past seven games and 14 in a three-game losing streak, including a 6-2 loss to the Florida Panthers on Tuesday.
