Senators forward Neil not asking for trade: report

Ottawa Senators forward Chris Neil said he has not asked for a trade with the 2015 NHL Trade Deadline approaching, the Ottawa Citizen reported Thursday.

"I haven't indicated that I want out of here or anything," Neil told the Citizen. "I've taken less money (than was offered elsewhere) to stay here in previous contracts. It shows the loyalty I have to this organization. I've bled a lot and went a lot of miles with this team and I've got a lot left."

Neil, 35, has spent his entire 13-season NHL career with the Senators. Neil's agent told ESPN.com that several teams had talked to him about Neil's interest in accepting a trade.

The Citizen said Neil can submit a list of 15 teams to whom he doesn't want to be traded.

Neil has seven points in 33 games; he plays a tough, physical style, and has 91 games of Stanley Cup Playoff experience.

Since returning from a knee injury on Jan. 20, Neil has played fewer than 10 minutes in three of five games.

"I indicated to [general manager Bryan Murray] that this is where I want to be," Neil said. "But I want to be a part of it too. I don’t just want to sit here and collect a paycheck."

The Nashville Predators are one of several teams interested, according to ESPN.com. Forward Mike Fisher, who was a teammate of Neil's in Ottawa and a good friend, plays for the Predators.
