Speers, Noel to play in CHL Top Prospects Game

Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds center Blake Speers and Saint John Sea Dogs center Nathan Noel will serve as injury replacements in the 2015 BMO CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game on Jan. 22 at the Meridian Centre in St. Catherines, Ontario.

Speers (5-foot-11, 180 pounds) and Noel (5-11, 170), each B-rated on NHL Central Scouting's players to watch list for the 2015 NHL Draft, will replace Sarnia Sting forward Nikita Korostelev (upper body) and Seattle Thunderbirds forward Mathew Barzal (lower body), who were each ruled out Thursday. Speers and Noel will play for Team Bobby Orr.

Korostelev is expected to miss the next 2-3 weeks. Barzal could be out another two weeks.

Speers, who possesses good vision and an ability to make plays in tight quarters, has 18 goals and 45 points in 38 games for the Greyhounds this season. Noel, a product of Shattuck-St. Mary's in Minnesota, leads the Sea Dogs with 37 points (13 goals, 24 points) in 43 games.
