Backes talks Blues' winning streak on NHL Live

St. Louis Blues forward David Backes joined NHL Live to discuss the Blues' success at the midway point of the season.

Backes was named the NHL's "First Star" for the week ending Jan. 11 after leading the League with five goals and eight points in three games, including three straight multi-point games, to lead the Blues to three wins. He scored four straight goals in a 6-0 win against the Arizona Coyotes on Jan. 6. He was the first to do so since Ilya Kovalchuk on Nov. 11, 2005 and the second player in Blues history to accomplish the feat (Red Berenson: Nov. 7, 1968).

The Blues have won four straight games while outscoring opponents 25-8 and are three points behind the second-place Chicago Blackhawks in the Central Division. They play the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday at Scottrade Center.

"I don't know if I could necessarily explain a great reason why," Backes said regarding the Blues' run. "Guys have just been finding the back of the net when they've had their chances and it's produced four wins in a row from us, which is a lot more important than how many goals are scored.
