Erie Otters center Connor McDavid, the projected No. 1 pick in the 2015 NHL Draft, scored his first goal with the team since sustaining a hand injury in November in a 4-3 loss to the Sarnia Sting in Sarnia, Ontario, on Thursday.

McDavid, who was named to NHL.com's 2015 World Junior Championship All-Tournament Team after scoring three goals and 11 points in a gold medal-winning performance for Canada, scored 16:28 into the second period to give Erie (27-9-3) a 2-0 lead. The Sting rallied from a 3-0 deficit with four unanswered goals over the second and third periods.

"I don't think we played a good game at all, to be honest," McDavid said, according to The Canadian Press. "They shouldn't have been that close to begin with. We should've been able to do more."

McDavid, who missed five weeks for Erie after injuring his right hand in a fight on Nov. 11, has 17 goals and 52 points in 19 games for the Otters this season. He has 70 goals and 217 points in 138 career games spanning three seasons.

Erie forward Dylan Strome, also considered a top-10 pick in the 2015 draft, extended his point streak to seven games with an assist. The A-rated prospect on NHL Central Scouting's players to watch list has six goals and 11 points in the past seven games and 27 goals and 72 points in 39 games.

Sarnia forward Pavel Zacha, who represented the Czech Republic in the 2015 WJC, had one assist in his return to the lineup. Zacha has nine goals and 20 points in 22 games for the Sting.
