Fantasy Spin: Tanguay available under radar

How many players who lead their NHL team in scoring are largely un-owned in fantasy?

Not many, not many, but Colorado Avalanche forward Alex Tanguay (13 percent owned, LW) fits that bill and continues to fly under the radar. He had two goals and an assist in a 5-1 win against the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday, and has 22 points. That's more than Jarome Iginla, Matt Duchene, Nathan MacKinnon and Gabriel Landeskog.

Did we mention he's available in 87 percent of Yahoo leagues?

Tanguay, who has 16 points in 17 games since Nov. 4, had 11 points in 16 games during an injury-plagued 2013-14 season. He played Saturday on a line with Iginla and John Mitchell.

-- The Pittsburgh Penguins were already thin on defense, and were without Christian Ehrhoff (undisclosed) and Paul Martin (undisclosed).

Robert Bortuzzo (upper body) and Olli Maatta (upper body) have been out of the lineup, which is why the Penguins recalled Derrick Pouliot and Taylor Chorney from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League prior to a 3-1 win against the Florida Panthers.

Pouliot (1 percent owned in Yahoo leagues) made an immediate impact, scoring his first NHL goal on his first shot. He finished the game with 15:07 of ice time, including 2:29 on the power play, third among Penguins defensemen, trailing Kris Letang (5:38) and Simon Despres (3:17).

If Pittsburgh is without any of their defensemen, Pouliot is likely to be in the lineup and see steady minutes. In 23 AHL games, Pouliot leads Wilkes-Barre/Scranton with 20 points, and he scored five goals in his past seven games there. Four came on the power play.

Forward Chris Kunitz returned to the lineup after missing the past eight games with a foot injury. He skated on the top line with Sidney Crosby and Patric Hornqvist. Kunitz had 19:18 of ice time (including a game-high 6:45 on the power play).

Chorney did not play.

-- Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford made 17 saves in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets in his first start since Nov. 29. This likely means Antti Raanta (25 percent owned), who is 5-2-0 with a 2.01 goals-against average and a .938 save percentage, will again see limited playing time, although with the Blackhawks playing the second of back-to-back games on Sunday, Raanta could start then.

-- Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty didn't miss a beat after he was questionable to play in what became a 4-1 win against the Ottawa Senators. After being injured Thursday when he was checked into the boards in the third period against the Anaheim Ducks, Pacioretty had two assists in 18:48 of ice time Saturday. Alex Galchenyuk (46 percent owned, C/LW) had a goal and an assist and has six points in his past three games since moving to Montreal's top line.
