Boston Bruins center David Krejci and New Jersey Devils forward Patrik Elias each returned to action Wednesday.
Krejci, who had an undisclosed injury, possibly to his groin, played 18:22 in his 12th game of the season. He skated with usual linemate Milan Lucic and Seth Griffith in a 3-2 overtime win against the Minnesota Wild.
Without Krejci (and until Dec. 11 without defenseman Zdeno Chara), the Bruins had been using a first-unit power play of Patrice Bergeron, Loui Eriksson, Reilly Smith, Carl Soderberg and Dougie Hamilton, instead of its traditional first unit of Chara, Krejci, Lucic, defenseman Torey Krug and another forward.
Boston stuck with that Tuesday, with Krejci getting 1:54 of four power-play minutes on the second unit. He was minus-1 with one shot, one hit and three blocks. The Bruins power play is 1-for-26 in their past 14 games.
Bruins backup goalie Niklas Svedberg made 35 saves. After Tuukka Rask played each end of the first two back-to-backs this season, he and Svedberg have split the past four.
-- Elias, who missed six of seven games with a groin injury, played 20:03, his third game with more than 20 minutes in 27 this season. He did not have a point in a 2-0 loss to the Ottawa Senators, but did hit the post with one shot, had five shots on goal, and was the third star of the game.
Elias (26 percent owned in Yahoo leagues) played on a line with center Travis Zajac and right wing Martin Havlat, and 4:18 on a power-play unit that included right wing Jaromir Jagr.
Defenseman Eric Gelinas played 8:07 of the Devils' 10 power-play minutes, and defenseman Marek Zidlicky played 7:36.
Devils rookie defenseman Damon Severson was a late scratch with a lower-body injury; it is unknown how long he will be sidelined.
Senators goaltender Craig Anderson (63 percent owned), in his first start under new coach Dave Cameron, made 34 saves for his third shutout in 19 games played this season. Anderson and Robin Lehner have each played one game for Cameron.
