DETROIT -- Jeremy Morin will make his debut with the Columbus Blue Jackets when they play the Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena on Tuesday.
Morin was acquired from the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday in a trade for defenseman Tim Erixon.
"I'm real excited to get out on the ice but trying to stay under control," Morin said. "Get out there in my first game and keep it simple, not try to do too much."
He was a frequent healthy scratch with Chicago, which is deep with talented forwards.
"I'm going to be in the lineup and contribute and play. … Hopefully I'll come in here and things will be on the upswing," Morin said.
Columbus coach Todd Richards has Morin on a line with Nick Foligno and Brian Gibbons.
"Get him (Morin) out on the ice as much as we can," Richards said.
Columbus (12-15-2), which has won six straight, will also get defenseman Fedor Tyutin back from injury.
The Blue Jackets activated Tyutin, who missed 13 games with a sprained knee, from the injured reserve on Tuesday. They sent left wing Kerby Rychel to the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League to make room on the roster for Tyutin.
Two players will return from injury for Detroit (17-7-7), which has lost three in a row.
Right wing Justin Abdelkader missed seven games with a separated shoulder and defenseman Danny DeKeyser sat out two games with an upper-body injury.
However, right wing Johan Franzen won't play Tuesday because he has the flu.
Franzen and left wing Tomas Tatar sat out practice on Monday with the flu. But Tatar is well enough to play.
"I didn't feel good before the Toronto game (Saturday) and after I had a little flu," Tatar said.
The Red Wings placed forward Stephen Weiss on short-term injured reserve (seven days) in order to create a roster spot and keep defenseman Xavier Ouellet on the team for now. Weiss (shoulder separation) isn't eligible to come off IR until Saturday.
