Canucks not releasing Horvat to play for Canada

Forward Bo Horvat will remain with the Vancouver Canucks and not be released to play for Canada at the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship, the Canucks announced Monday.

"Bo Horvat has proven he can contribute to the success of the Vancouver Canucks," general manager Jim Benning told the Canucks website. "He is a solid two-way player, strong in the faceoff circle and displays a maturity beyond his years. We're very pleased with Bo's play and look forward to watching him develop as an NHL player."

In 17 games Horvat, 19, has one goal and four assists while averaging 10:10 of ice time per game. He has won 57.4 percent of his faceoffs.

Horvat was selected by the Canucks with the ninth pick of the 2013 NHL Draft. He had three points in seven games for Canada at the 2014 WJC.
