Flyers to assign defenseman Hagg to Sweden for WJC

The Philadelphia Flyers announced Sunday that defenseman Robert Hagg will be loaned to Sweden for the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship.

Hagg will join Sweden on Dec. 21. The tournament will be held in Montreal and Toronto from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5.

Hagg will be making his third and final appearance for Sweden after helping lead it to a silver medal in each of the past two seasons. Sweden has medaled in five of the past six seasons, but has not won gold since 2012.

A second-round pick (No. 41) of the Flyers in the 2013 NHL Draft, Hagg has two goals and 10 points in his first full season with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League.
