Fantasy Spin: Letang returns; Weiss injured

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Sidney Crosby (illness) was unable to play in a 3-1 win against the Calgary Flames on Friday, but defenseman Kris Letang returned after missing five games with a groin injury.

Letang, partnered with Paul Martin, generated numerous scoring opportunities, had a first-period goal (which turned out to be the game-winner), and created another in the third period starting a rush out of the Penguins end which led to a goal by Rob Klinkhammer.

Letang led the Penguins in ice time (27:16) and played 5:25 on the power play, mostly with the first unit. Pittsburgh was 0-for-5 with the man-advantage.

Forward Patric Hornqvist, who returned after missing two games with an undisclosed injury, played with Brandon Sutter and Nick Spaling but didn't do much. He had four shots on goal and two penalty minutes in 18:40 of ice time.

Blake Comeau (owned in 15 percent of Yahoo leagues), playing on the top line with Evgeni Malkin instead of Crosby, had a goal and three hits in 17:33. It was the first goal in seven games for Comeau, who is second on the Penguins with 80 hits.

-- Red Wings forward Stephen Weiss, who had 10 points in 10 games before Friday (four goals, six assists) left a 3-2 shootout loss to the Florida Panthers after taking a hit in the second period. Coach Mike Babcock said Weiss has a shoulder injury and won't play on Saturday against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Forward Tomas Tatar (54 percent owned) scored his 13th goal Friday. He has seven points in his past six games (four goals, three assists).

-- Panthers wing Jonathan Huberdeau (32 percent) scored in a 3-2 shootout win against the Detroit Red Wings on Friday. It was his third goal of the season, first in 13 games.

-- Canadiens forward Jiri Sekac, owned in less than one percent of leagues, scored two goals in a 6-2 win against the Los Angeles Kings and has points in three straight games and four of his past six. Rookie right wing Sven Andrighetto scored his second goal and has an assist in three NHL games.

-- Anaheim Ducks forward Rene Bourque, playing with Ryan Getzlaf, had two assists, one on a power play, in a 4-2 win against the Edmonton Oilers. Bourque has three points in three games since Corey Perry injured his knee.
