Kypreos, MacLean named to Top Prospects staffs

Sportsnet analysts Doug MacLean and Nick Kypreos will be assistant coaches for Team Cherry and Team Orr, respectively, at the 2015 CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game.

The game, which will feature 40 of the top prospects for the 2015 NHL Draft playing in the Canadian Hockey League, will be played Jan. 22, 2015 at Meridian Centre in St. Catharines, Ontario, home of the Niagara IceDogs of the Ontario Hockey League.

Hockey Hall of Fame member Bobby Orr will coach Team Orr. In addition to MacLean, who has coached in the NHL with the Florida Panthers and Columbus Blue Jackets, Niagara coach Marty Williamson and assistant coaches Dave Bell and Billy Burke will be part of the coaching staff.

Famed hockey commentator Don Cherry will coach Team Cherry. Joining his staff with Kypreos are Hockey Hall of Fame coach Brian Kilrea, the winningest coach in junior hockey history with the Ottawa 67s, and his long-time assistant, Bert O'Brien.

Rosters for the game will be announced next week. Players are picked by the 30 NHL teams and coordinated by NHL Central Scouting.

The Top Prospects Game will be televised on NHL Network in the United States and Sportsnet in Canada.
