At the Rink: Bruins at Coyotes

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- The struggling Arizona Coyotes made several roster moves on Friday and the new-look lineup will be on display when they try to snap their six-game home losing streak against the Boston Bruins on Saturday.

The Coyotes were shut out 4-0 by the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday, extending their scoreless streak to 172 minutes at Gila River Arena, and Arizona general manager Don Maloney made some changes.

Center Kyle Chipchura was waived, defenseman David Schlemko was sent to Portland of the American Hockey League and forward Rob Klinkhammer was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins for defenseman Philip Samuelsson. The Coyotes recalled forward Jordan Martinook and defenseman Andrew Campbell from Portland and each will be in the lineup against the Bruins.

Defenseman Connor Murphy will also be in the lineup.

"We brought up two young players that have played very well [in the AHL]," coach Dave Tippett said. "Campbell's a bigger, heavier defender with a left-handed shot. Martinook's a third- or fourth-line guy but heavy guy. Good speed. He's chipped in a few goals down there. It’s a Saturday night at home against the Boston Bruins and they should both be very excited to play.”

Arizona has lost five of their past six and are (0-4-2) in the past six at home, matching the longest home losing streak since moving to Arizona in 1996.

"There is a desperation factor. We know we have to play better," Tippett said. "When you shake up the lineup and people get traded, there is always talk in the locker room They have friends or their wives have friends and people take notice. But we all realize we are in a results-driven business and when there are results there are going to be changes. And the reality is if we don’t get better there will be more changes."

The Bruins will try to salvage the last game of a four-game Western road trip after losses against the Anaheim Ducks, Kings and San Jose Sharks. A regulation loss would be the first time in more than 50 years that the Bruins failed to gain a point in a road trip of at least four games. Boston was 0-5-0 on a road trip from Oct. 12-20 in 1963.

Boston will insert forward Seth Griffith and defenseman Joe Morrow into the lineup with David Pastrnak, Matt Bartkowski sitting as scratches.

Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask will attempt to follow Karri Ramo of the Calgary Flames and Martin Jones of the Kings and become the third straight goalie to shut out the Coyotes at home. Devan Dubnyk, who is 5-1-1 in goal this season, will get the start for Arizona in place of the struggling Mike Smith.

Status report: Chipchura cleared waivers on Saturday and was on the ice at the optional morning skate. No decision has been made on whether he will accept an assignment to the AHL. … Samuelsson was assigned to Portland, where he will play with his younger brother, Henrik. Both are the sons of former NHL player Ulf Samuelsson.

Who's hot: The Bruins have won four straight against the Coyotes and haven’t lost a game to them since 2010. … The Bruins are 140-9-6 when they have held a two-goal lead in a game since the 2011-12 season. When Boston has had a three-goal lead over that span, they are 85-1-1.
