WINNIPEG – The St. Louis Blues will have an unlikely addition to their injury list when they finish their four-game road trip against the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday.
Defenseman Jay Bouwmeester will miss the game with a lower-body injury sustained in a 3-2 road win against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday. Bouwmeester did not skate in the pregame warm-up at MTS Centre and his streak of 737 consecutive games played will end.
Bouwmeester had not missed a game since the 2003-04 season when he was with the Florida Panthers.
Defenseman Chris Butler will replace Bouwmeester in the lineup. Butler, who signed with the Blues in the summer, has not played this season. Butler, a St. Louis native, played in 82 games last season with the Calgary Flames.
St. Louis defenseman Barret Jackman will play his 744th game with the Blues and tie Brett Hull for third on the franchise's all-time list.
Hitchcock has been alternating starts for goaltenders Jake Allen and Brian Elliott, and Allen will start against Winnipeg. In his most recent start, Allen allowed four goals on 30 shots in a 4-1 loss against the Montreal Canadiens.
Goaltender Ondrej Pavelec will start for the Jets, who begin a three-game road trip Tuesday against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Jets coach Paul Maurice rested defenseman Toby Enstrom on Saturday, but Enstrom will dress Sunday.
