At the Rink: Canucks at Ducks

The Anaheim Ducks have several question marks in their lineup going into Sunday against the Vancouver Canucks at Honda Center. But one thing for sure is that Corey Perry, the NHL's co-scoring leader, will miss a third straight game because of flu-like symptoms.

Perry was placed on injured reserve Sunday and is eligible to be activated for the game Wednesday against the Los Angeles Kings.

The same illness has affected defenseman Francois Beauchemin, who is questionable and could sit given the bug that has hit Anaheim's locker room. Defenseman Cam Fowler reportedly skated Sunday morning after a lower-body injury forced him out of the game Friday. Boudreau had left open the possibility of Fowler playing.

The Ducks also recalled defenseman Mat Clark from Norfolk of the American Hockey League on Sunday and assigned defenseman Shea Theodore to Seattle of the Western Hockey League.

Vancouver also has health concerns after right wings Radim Vrbata and Derek Dorsett left the game in third period of a 5-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday. Vrbata is expected to play through a leg injury and Dorsett is doubtful, according to the Vancouver Province.

The main storyline is that Anaheim center Ryan Kesler will play his former team for the first time, as will Canucks center Nick Bonino and defenseman Luca Sbisa, former Ducks who were involved in the June 27 trade for Kesler.

"We're happy we're playing back to back, because you lose a game like this, you always want to get right back at it," Bonino said Saturday. "It just so happens that it's the Ducks."

Bonino leads Vancouver with seven goals but its offense was shut down against the Kings with one goal on 19 shots, which matched a season low.

"We talked about [how] this trip would kind of show us where we're at, and it's shown us where we're at," Vancouver coach Willie Desjardins said. "We're not good enough right now, and we have to get better. There's a difference when teams are really ready for you and when they're not, and we're getting teams that are really ready for us."

Anaheim has won six straight against Vancouver, which last beat the Ducks on Jan. 25, 2013.

Status report: Heatley has been scratched in three of the past four games and Boudreau wants to see more production from the veteran. Palmieri said he is about a week away from returning and he has not had any setbacks. Lack is expected to start after he was inserted in the third period Saturday. Kassian reportedly returned to Vancouver to be evaluated. Desjardins indicated he might shake up the lineup after the Canucks had little possession time against the Kings, who played with five defensemen.

Who's hot: Beleskey's seven goals are four shy of his career high. Getzlaf is tied for seventh in the NHL in assists (11). Vatanen is tied for fifth with six power-play assists. Andersen is 3-0-0 with a 1.00 goals-against average against Vancouver. Higgins scored the lone goal for Vancouver on Saturday. Bonino's seven goals are all at even strength.
