Rangers captain McDonagh separates shoulder

NEW YORK -- New York Rangers defenseman and captain Ryan McDonagh left the game Saturday with a separated left shoulder after getting hit hard by Winnipeg Jets left wing Evander Kane.

The Rangers revealed the injury on their Twitter account.

McDonagh was hit at 11:46 by Winnipeg Jets left wing Evander Kane.

Rangers defenseman Kevin Klein left the game at 3:12 of the first period with a foot contusion. He also won't return to the game.

The Rangers entered with six healthy and eligible defensemen. Dan Boyle (broken hand) is on injured reserve and John Moore is serving the first of a five-game suspension.

Kane hit McDonagh in the corner as he was playing the puck. McDonagh's left shoulder drove forcefully into the boards. He stayed down on the ice as he was tended to by head athletic trainer Jim Ramsay, who helped him to the dressing room.

Klein was injured when he blocked a shot from Jets defenseman Jacob Trouba at 28 seconds. He played one more shift before leaving the game.
