Stars forward Seguin talks hot start on NHL Live

Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin joined NHL Live to discuss the first two weeks of the regular season and the stretch that earned him the League's First Star for the week ending Oct. 19.

Seguin has four goals and eight points, including his fifth career hat trick and game-winning goal Oct. 14 against the Columbus Blue Jackets, in his past three games to help Dallas earn five out of a possible six points and improve to 2-1-2 entering their game Tuesday against the Vancouver Canucks at American Airlines Center. The run includes a career-high four assists in a 6-5 overtime loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday

"It feels good," Seguin said. "We had a tough loss against Philly the last game. We had two tough games to start the year. I think myself and a couple of other guys got called out a bit for our games and we definitely wanted to step it up, and we turned it around a couple games and bounced back."

Seguin leads the League with four hat tricks since joining the Stars last season. The No. 2 pick in the 2010 NHL Draft has 97 goals and 213 points in 288 regular-season games, and believes a fresh start in Dallas and the chance to be a No. 1 center has had a positive impact on his game.

"That was a big message when I first got down in Dallas I sat down with [general manager] Jim Nill and he said whatever's happened so far has already happened," Seguin said. "It's obviously great winning the Stanley Cup [with the Boston Bruins in 2011] and now we're here in Dallas and it's a brand new opportunity and I wanted to seize that. I was pretty surprised on how much harder it is to obviously play at a center position. I still have a lot of work to do at that spot but I'm definitely enjoying my time here."
