Starting with tonight's game, the Anaheim Ducks will honor former defenseman Ruslan Salei with a "24" patch on their jerseys, which represents Salei's jersey number during his nine seasons with the Ducks.
Salei was among those killed in this summer's plane crash in Russia that wiped out the KHL's Yaroslavl Lokomotiv team.
San Jose is wearing a sticker on its helmets recognizing Lokomotiv. The Sharks lost one of their prospects, 2011 sixth-round pick Daniil Sobchenko, in the crash.
I don't think it's really truly going to sink in until we drop the puck, to be honest. I know there's going to be a lot of smoke and mirrors with the media attention and all that. We came [Monday] and it was sort of a light day to get things organized. We just want to focus in on the business aspect, the game itself. That's what we're preparing to do. Get these next couple of days out of the way and it's game on.
