U.S. Olympian Hilary Knight joins NHL Live

Two-time U.S. Olympian Hilary Knight joined NHL Live to discuss skating with the Anaheim Ducks at practice on Friday.

"It was an unreal experience," said Knight, who helped the United States win silver medals at the 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics. "I was like a kid in a candy shop. The players were fantastic; they were super-welcoming. It was an honor to be a part of it."

What impressed her most?

"The size and the speed of the players," she said. "They move the puck so quickly."

Knight practiced with the Ducks as part of World Girls Ice Hockey Week, which will be capped by USA Hockey's Girls Try Hockey for Free Day on Oct. 12, an event designed to help introduce young female athletes to the sport.

"I'm extremely excited to be a part of Try Hockey for Free Day," she said. "Hockey is an expensive sport and it can be daunting; you go into this building with all this equipment and you don't know what to do. It's a great day for someone who's new hasn't even seen the sport to get in there, try some skates on, have someone help you lace up your skates and just have a blast. It's a great and fun opportunity."
