Jets' Byfuglien skating, not expected to play Saturday

Winnipeg Jets forward Dustin Byfuglien skated twice Friday but isn't expected to play in the preseason finale Saturday against the Calgary Flames as he recovers from a lower-body injury that has sidelined him during training camp.

"We just need him healthy first," coach Paul Maurice said.

The Jets open the regular season Oct. 9 at the Arizona Coyotes.

Maurice said defenseman Zach Bogosian has a minor lower-body injury but might skate Saturday.

Injured forwards Patrice Cormier and Eric O'Dell could be ready to return by the middle of next week.

"We're closing in on full health," Maurice said.
