Flyers send Laughton, Gostisbehere to AHL

The Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday sent 2012 first-round pick (No. 20) center Scott Laughton and defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League.

Laughton is No. 30 on the NHL.com Top 60 prospect ranking. Gostisbehere, the Most Outstanding Player at the 2014 Frozen Four, which was played at the Flyers' home rink, Wells Fargo Center, is No. 58.

The Flyers also placed forward Zack Stortini on waivers for the purpose of loaning him to Lehigh Valley.

The Dallas Stars sent forward Brett Ritchie and defenseman Jyrki Jokipakka to Texas of the American Hockey League on Wednesday.

Selected No. 44 in the 2011 NHL Draft, Ritchie scored 48 points (22 goals, 26 assists) in 68 regular-season games and 11 points (seven goals, four assists) in 13 playoff games to help lead Texas to the 2014 Calder Cup.

Jokipakka, the Stars' seventh-round pick (No. 195) in 2011, had 21 points (five goals, 16 assists) in 68 regular-season games for Texas last season, his first in North America, and five assists in 21 playoff games.

The Stars have 25 players remaining on their training camp roster.

The New York Rangers trimmed their roster to 34 players Wednesday, with nine players reassigned to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack.

Sent down were forwards Chris Bourque, Ryan Bourque, Danny Kristo and Nick Tarnasky; defensemen Conor Allen, Mat Bodie, Tommy Hughes and Petr Zamorsky; and goaltender Jason Missiaen.

The Winnipeg Jets reduced their training camp roster by five players Wednesday.

Forwards John Albert and J.C. Lipon, and goalie Connor Hellebuyck, were reassigned to St. John's of the AHL. Forwards Julien Brouillette and Carl Klingberg will report to the IceCaps if they clear waivers.

The Calgary Flames on Wednesday assigned forwards Bill Arnold, Corban Knight and Max Reinhart, and defenseman Brett Kulak, to Adirondack of the AHL. Defenseman Sena Acolatse will go to Adirondack if he clears waivers.

Reinhart, the Flames' third-round pick (No. 64) in the 2010 NHL Draft, has a goal and five points in 19 NHL games, and scored 63 points (21 goals, 42 assists) in 66 AHL games last season. He is the brother of New York Islanders defenseman Griffin Reinhart and Buffalo Sabres forward Sam Reinhart.

Calgary also released defenseman Sheldon Brookbank and Nolan Yonkman from their professional tryouts. Brookbank has appeared in 351 NHL games for four teams and won the Stanley Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2013.

The Flames have 33 players remaining on their training camp roster.

The Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday trimmed their training camp roster to 29 players.

Reassigned to Lake Erie of the AHL were defensemen Bruno Gervais, Dan Maggio, Maxim Noreau and Duncan Siemens, forwards Samuel Henley, Joey Hishon and Michael Schumacher, and goalie Calvin Pickard.

Forward Alexis Pepin was reassigned to Gatineau of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

The Boston Bruins on Wednesday sent forwards Justin Florek, Ryan Spooner and Alexander Khokhlachev to the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League.

The Bruins also placed goaltender Jeremy Smith on waivers and will send him to Providence as well if he clears.

The Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday trimmed their training camp roster to 28 players.

Forwards Max Friberg and Christopher Wagner, and defensemen Jesse Blacker and Mat Clark, were assigned to Norfolk of the AHL.
