Stafford talks Sabres additions on NHL Live

Buffalo Sabres forward Drew Stafford was a guest on NHL Live to look ahead what he believes will be an exciting season in western New York. The Sabres have a new-look team this season after finishing 2013-14 last in wins (21), points (52) and goals (150).

Stafford, entering his ninth NHL season (all with the Sabres), is looking forward to a fresh start

"I'm really excited," Stafford said. "It was a long summer, but the additions that we got through free agency, the new coaching staff, training camp has been great so far. Our guys are really pumped."

Forwards Matt Moulson and Cody McCormick each returned to Buffalo as free agents. General manager Tim Murray also signed forward Brian Gionta and defenseman Andrej Meszaros, and traded for defenseman Josh Gorges to add grit and leadership to a budding young team.

"It's been a seamless transition," Stafford said of the new additions. "Two of the guys, with Moulson and McCormick coming back, they're already comfortable with everyone and the way things have gone. You get guys like Gionta and Gorges coming in, and even Andrej Meszaros as well, they're all just classy guys. Great veteran players, big presence in the room and they've been around the League a long time and have had success in the NHL. When you get those kind of guys coming in it's a positive thing."
