Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Ben Bishop will play in his first game since late in the 2013-14 regular season when the Lightning host the Dallas Stars on Friday.
Bishop hasn't seen game action since he dislocated his elbow April 8 against the Toronto Maple Leafs, which caused him to miss the rest of the season. The Lightning were swept by the Montreal Canadiens in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and Bishop had surgery in late April to repair a torn ligament in his wrist, an injury sustained earlier in the season.
"I just want to get back into rhythm," Bishop told the Lightning website. "You want to start feeling the rushes and adjust to a real game."
Lightning captain Steven Stamkos and 2014 first-round draft pick Anthony DeAngelo will play their first games of the preseason.
Stamkos returned from a broken fibula that cost him more than half of the regular season to finish with 25 goals in 37 regular-season games and play in all four postseason games. He said the leg feels good, but he's eager to put it to the test in game action.
"It's tough to gauge in scrimmages and practices, so we'll find out tonight," Stamkos said.

"I started getting excited while I was sleeping," he said. "I was able to sleep pretty good, which is nice. Just go out there and try to play my game and see what happens."
