Summer was too long for the Boston Bruins, who were eliminated in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs last spring.
After four months of rest and training, they hit the ice Friday at Ristuccia Arena in Wilmington, Mass., for the first practices of training camp determined to make next summer a lot shorter.
Coach Claude Julien ran four hours of on-ice sessions and was happy with what he saw.
"I think the guys skated well, the work ethic was good, the energy level; the guys were excited to get back on the ice," Julien said.
