Hurricanes impressed by Peters on first day of camp

It didn't take long for the Carolina Hurricanes to notice a distinct change to the way training camp had been run for the past few seasons.

New coach Bill Peters and his staff put the players through up-tempo drills for about an hour, spent time on power-play breakouts and positioning, and also had a 30-minute scrimmage Friday.

"He comes in with a presence, a plan and an idea, and that's what you want," captain Eric Staal told the team's website. "You want to follow someone that shows that confidence and exudes that confidence. He's done that early."
