Arizona Coyotes forward Lucas Lessio made the team's opening night roster last season, but his stay in the NHL lasted three games.
The second-round pick (No. 56) in the 2011 NHL Draft is working toward a longer stay this season. He spent the rest of the season in the American Hockey League, where he had 29 goals and 54 points in 69 games.
"He was a dynamic player down there [in the AHL]," Coyotes coach Dave Tippett told the team's website. "The biggest thing with Lucas is that he has to figure out that dynamic of not just playing high-tempo, where he can grab the puck and go forward, but he has to be able to play with other players, play in a structure where everyone can fit into, and young players sometime struggle with that to start. But he's a year older and hopefully those areas have improved for him."
