Defenseman Alec Martinez, who scored the overtime goal that gave the Los Angeles Kings their second Stanley Cup in three seasons, celebrated with his family Monday at his home in Allen, Texas, near Dallas.
While assistant coach Davis Payne, who had the Cup on Sunday in Kamloops, British Columbia, filled it with cheeseburgers, Martinez opted for Fruit Loops instead.
Martinez scored 14:43 into the second OT of Game 5 of the Final to give the Kings a 3-2 victory against the New York Rangers. He scored the overtime winner against the Chicago Blackhawks in Game 7 of the Western Conference Final.
