Kings' Nolan has father/son day with Cup

Ted Nolan has his fair share of work to do in order to turn the Buffalo Sabres into Stanley Cup contenders, but thanks to his son he got a visit from the famous trophy this week.

Jordan Nolan, who has won the Stanley Cup twice in three seasons as a fourth-line wing for the Los Angeles Kings, received the trophy Thursday in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, and took the opportunity to spend some quality time with dad.

Although Ted Nolan has not won the Stanley Cup yet in his coaching career, he did win the Jack Adams Trophy during his first stint coaching the Sabres in the mid-90s, leading to a picture in which father and son posed with their respective hardware.

Jordan Nolan was set to be honored Friday during ceremonies in Garden River, including a trip through town parading the Cup on a fire department vehicle.

Quote of the Day

We're buyers. We're committed to winning. That's what [owner Vinnie Viola] has said all along and what we've said all along. We want to win. We want to win a championship. We're putting the pieces together, step by step, and we're hopeful that Jaromir can lead these young guys to the promised land. It's a win-win for us.
