USHL/NHL 2015 Top Prospects Game set for January

The United States Hockey League revealed Wednesday that the USHL/NHL 2015 Top Prospects Game will be held Jan. 13 at Mystique Community Ice Center in Dubuque, Iowa.

The USHL and host club Dubuque Fighting Saints made the joint announcement during a press conference at the Mystique Community Ice Center.

The United States Hockey League revealed Wednesday that the USHL/NHL 2015 Top Prospects Game will be held Jan. 13 at Mystique Community Ice Center in Dubuque, Iowa.

The game will feature 40 of the top blue-chip prospects from the USHL eligible for the 2015 NHL Draft in Sunrise, Fla., on June 26-27. Players will be chosen for the event based on a selection process that includes the input of USHL general managers, NHL Central Scouting, and NHL team scouts and decision makers.

"The results from the recent NHL draft validate the skill level of our league and speak volumes about the USHL's position on the development landscape," USHL president and commissioner Bob Fallen said. "We invite fans from across the region to join us in Dubuque this coming January for what will surely be a talent-rich showcase of junior hockey in America."

It marks the return of the USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game for the first time since 2013. The USHL had 35 players from last season selected in the 2014 draft in Philadelphia.

"The NHL scouting fraternity is pleased to know that the USHL is staging a prospects game for 2015," director of NHL Central Scouting Dan Marr told NHL.com. "Bob Fallen and his executive group met with NHL Central Scouting to outline their commitment and vision of promoting the USHL draft eligible talent to NHL personnel through the top prospects game."

Players and coaches for the two teams will be determined at a later date. A total of 30 players who have been previously selected to compete in the past two USHL/NHL top prospects games have gone on to be taken in the NHL Draft.

"The USHL continues to provide NHL teams with bona fide draft prospects and this top prospects game provides a unique opportunity to scout these players at one site in a game where they are encouraged to showcase their abilities," Marr said.
