Blue Jackets' Milano sticking with Boston College

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. -- Columbus Blue Jackets prospect Sonny Milano confirmed Monday he will attend Boston College in the fall.

Milano's Canadian Hockey League rights are owned by the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League, and there has been speculation he would pass on college hockey. However, Milano, the 16th pick of the 2014 NHL Draft, said his commitment was set.

"A lot of people talk, I guess," Milano said. "I was on campus two weeks ago for orientation. I keep in touch with all the [hockey] staff."

Milano said he did investigate each path before deciding on college hockey, and still feels it's the best route for him.

"Less games gives you more time to work out," he said. "You're playing against older guys. Just BC as well. It's one of the better colleges in history, Jerry York is a great coach, he knows what he's doing. It's the best way to get to the NHL."
