Muzzin enjoys first chance to spend day with Cup

When Los Angeles Kings defenseman Jake Muzzin finally got his day with the Stanley Cup on Sunday, he made it truly memorable.

While this summer marked the second time in three years that several members of the Kings got to spend time with the Cup, Muzzin enjoyed his first day with the iconic trophy. The weekend started with defenseman Drew Doughty and forward Jeff Carter each spending time with the Cup in London, Ontario before Muzzin received it just down the road in Woodstock.

Muzzin, who did not dress for Los Angeles when they won the Stanley Cup in 2012, enjoyed some personal time with the Cup in the morning before leading a parade through town. Sitting atop a fire engine, Muzzin was driven through Woodstock before arriving at the Goff Hall Community Complex, where locals lined up to get autographs and pose for photographs.

Muzzin met with fans for two hours, but the highlight of this day may have come when he stopped by City Hall. It was there that the 25-year-old defenseman received the key to the city from mayor Pat Sobeski, who also declared July 27 "Jake Muzzin Day" in Woodstock.

Quote of the Day

I remember the first time at Wrigley Field all of us had the long johns, the turtlenecks and the extra equipment because we were afraid of being cold. Halfway through the first period everybody's ripping everything off and we just ended up wearing what we would normally wear for a game at the United Center.
