Donnelly, Doughty get their days with Stanley Cup

The Stanley Cup's summertime trek across North America and Europe stopped in Michigan for a day before spending three days in western Ontario.

Former Kings player and current scout Mike Donnelly had his day with the Cup in suburban Detroit on Thursday. Donnelly enjoyed a private function and also brought the Cup to a local restaurant and the Power Shot Hockey Academy, a local facility where he works as an instructor. In what might be a first, the day with the Cup included a trip to the dentist. Green Bay Packers lineman T.J. Lang, who was a member of the Packers' Super Bowl-winning team in 2011, also stopped by to see the Cup.

The Stanley Cup then traveled to Ontario to spend three straight days, starting with defenseman Drew Doughty in London on Friday. Bringing the Cup to his hometown for the second time in three years, Doughty enjoyed a variety of activities, including a stop at the London Golf Club. Navigating with friends around town on a small bus, Doughty posed for a number of photos with the Cup, including one featuring his pet beagle, Reggie.

In perhaps the greatest testament to Doughty's achievements, the Kings defenseman draped the Cup in his two Olympic gold medals, won in 2010 in Vancouver and 2014 in Sochi, before posing for a photo.

Doughty's defensive partner, Jake Muzzin, will enjoy his day with the Cup on Sunday just down the road in nearby Woodstock, Ontario. The day will be highlighted by a parade through town, a photo and autograph session at the local community center and a charity barbecue. In addition, the mayor of Woodstock will declare July 27 "Jake Muzzin Day" and hand the Kings defenseman the key to the city.
