Los Angeles Kings forward Justin Williams brought the Stanley Cup back to Ventnor, N.J., on Friday, and this time he had the Conn Smythe Trophy with him.
Williams, MVP of the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs, received a key to the city from Mayor Michael Bagnell.
"I wonder what it opens," Williams said, according to ShoreNewsToday.com. "I absolutely love being here and don't plan on leaving Ventnor anytime soon."
Williams took the Cup to his offseason home at the Jersey Shore in 2012, after bringing the trophy to his hometown of Cobourg, Ontario in 2006, when he won it with the Carolina Hurricanes.
He is bringing it back to Cobourg for a parade Saturday.
Williams established roots in southern New Jersey during his playing days with the Philadelphia Flyers and bought a home in Ventnor in 2009. After some time with friends and family Friday morning, he took his two impressive trophies to Ventnor City Hall, where Bagnell formally presented him with the key to the city.
Williams hoisted the Cup and passed through the crowd before taking the Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe Trophy to Caesars Atlantic City. Fans lined up to meet Williams and have their photographs taken with the trophies.
The public event at Caesar's was scheduled to end around 6 p.m., after which Williams would attend a private event with friends and family before ending his third day with the Stanley Cup.
Kings assistant coach John Stevens brought the Cup to the Jersey Shore and Harrah's Atlantic City on Thursday.
