Hartnell on trade to Blue Jackets, leaving Philadelphia

Columbus Blue Jackets forward Scott Hartnell was a guest of NHL Live days after being acquired from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for forward R.J. Umberger and a fourth-round draft pick in 2015.

Hartnell had 20 goals and 52 points in 78 games in 2013-14, his seventh in Philadelphia. He scored at least 20 goals in five of those seven seasons, including a career-high 37 in 2011-12, and waived his no-trade clause to go to Columbus.

"I feel I made the right decision," Hartnell said. "There was a lot to handle the last week, a lot to take in, a lot of things to analyze and what not. But at the end of the day, for me to be happy I was prepared to go to a team that wanted to have me, that's excited about their future not only this year but in the next four-five years.

"It was not a great feeling to be not wanted by a team anymore, but nothing bad to say about the Flyers and what went on, but it was a tough week for sure. A lot of emotion."
