Kings visit Dodger Stadium with Stanley Cup

Several Los Angeles Kings visited Dodger Stadium with the Stanley Cup on Tuesday when the Dodgers hosted the Colorado Rockies.

The Kings won the Stanley Cup for the second time in three seasons Friday with a 3-2 double-overtime victory in Game 5 of the Final against the New York Rangers.

Defensemen Drew Doughty, Willie Mitchell and Alec Martinez, who scored the Cup-winning goal; and forwards Jeff Carter, Jarret Stoll and Justin Williams, who won the Conn Smythe Trophy as most valuable player of the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs, were among the Kings to take the Cup to Dodger Stadium.

The Kings took batting practice during their visit.

"These guys have got pretty good strokes, actually," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly told cbsla.com. "And they're actually really athletic, especially with the ball down. I guess it's a little bit like that slap shot, right?"

Carter received the best reviews for his swings, including a drive off the wall in left-center field.

"It was cool, something I had never done before," Carter said, according to Fox Sports West. "I just caught it right."

The 2014 Stanley Cup champions were honored in a ceremony before the Major League Baseball game.

"As much as we're fans of them, I guess they're fans of us too," Carter told cbsla.com. "So it's kind of cool to come and meet them [and] bring the cup down to show them."

During the third inning, the Cup was taken up to legendary Dodgers announcer Vin Scully.

"Boy, are we thrilled and honored tonight. It has never happened to me before," Scully said. "For the first time in a Dodger broadcasting booth, we have the Stanley Cup, and what a thrill that is. My goodness, look at all the names on there, soon to hold some of the great names of the 2014 Los Angeles Kings."

Scully, a New York native, grew up a Rangers fan but has followed the Kings more in recent years.
