Defenseman Regehr not in Kings lineup for Game 2

LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles Kings defenseman Robyn Regehr is not in the lineup for Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final against the New York Rangers on Saturday at Staples Center (NBC, CBC, RDS).

Los Angeles Kings coach Darryl Sutter said it would be a game-time decision whether to insert Regehr, who has been out since May 3 with a knee injury.

"We'll make the decision after warm-up [for] our lineup," Sutter said in a brief press conference Saturday afternoon.

Sutter said Friday that Regehr would probably play in Game 2. Los Angeles leads the best-of-7 series 1-0 after a 3-2 overtime win Wednesday.

Sutter said he was looking for a better start from the Kings, who, after a short turnaround from the Western Conference Final, trailed the Rangers 2-0 in the first period of Game 1.

"I think we had the two days [off] and we talked lots about how we were a tired team," Sutter said. "I guess it was good for us, not just in terms of on-ice stuff but get a little more set about how we want to play… better for sure. At the end of the day, both teams will be better."

With no more questions to field, Sutter ended his remarks by joking about a special guest who was in attendance.

"You guys go back there and talk to that old Hall of Famer Lanny McDonald," Sutter said of the former Calgary Flames forward. "Don't bother me."

McDonald was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1992. This year is the 25th anniversary of Calgary's 1989 Stanley Cup championship; McDonald was the captain of that team.
