LOS ANGELES -- New York Rangers goalie Cam Talbot is day-to-day with an undisclosed injury and will not dress as the backup to Henrik Lundqvist in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday (8 p.m. ET; NBC, CBC, RDS).
David Leneveu will serve as Lundqvist's backup, Rangers coach Alain Vigneault said. Vigneault did not provide a further update on Talbot's status other than to say he's day-to-day.
"I know from what [goalie coach Benoit Allaire] told me," Vigneault said of Leneveu. "He finished the season off in Hartford, I think he was 9-1-1. He's an experienced guy. He's been practicing with our team here throughout the playoffs, with our guys from Hartford, and he's a good goaltender."
Leneveu has appeared in 22 NHL games, but none since the 2010-11 season. He appeared in 15 games with the Phoenix Coyotes in 2005-06 and six more with the Coyotes in 2006-07. He is 5-9-2 with a 3.42 goals-against average and .887 save percentage in the NHL.
He appeared in 22 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League this season and went 12-8-0 with three shutouts, a 2.46 goals-against average and .915 save percentage.
Here is the Rangers projected Game 1 lineup:
