Fabbri: Quick starts key to Guelph's Memorial Cup run

Guelph Storm forward Robby Fabbri was a guest of NHL Live to talk about his team's run in the 2014 Memorial Cup.

Fabbri had a goal and an assist in a 6-3 win against the Val-d'Or Foreurs on Monday. The Storm qualified for the championship game and is one victory away from the franchise's first Memorial Cup in its 23-year history.

"A big key to our success [Monday] was getting off to a quick start," Fabbri said. "Right from there we just kept going, and took the life out of Val-d'Or's game and used it to our advantage."

Fabbri, who had 45 goals and 87 points in 58 games with the Storm this season, is No. 21 on Central Scouting's final list of the top draft-eligible skaters in North America. His 13 goals were second in the OHL during the playoffs, his 28 points in 16 playoff games were third, and he was named the most valuable player of the OHL postseason.

Guelph is 2-0-0 at the tournament and was the highest scoring major junior team in Canada with 340 goals.

"We're confident in our ability and what we can do, but I think we got a great leadership group and a lot of experience that everyone stays level-headed," Fabbri said. "We don't cross that line between confident and cocky. I think that is a big key to why we're so successful coming out in every game."
