Bruins' Seidenberg unlikely to return for Game 7

BOSTON -- Based on the type of game-changer defenseman Dennis Seidenberg was for the Boston Bruins in recent Stanley Cup Playoff runs, he is a player the Bruins would love to have in their lineup.

However, it doesn't sound like Seidenberg, who had surgery for an ACL/MCL injury in early January, has a chance playing in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Second Round at TD Garden on Wednesday (7 p.m. ET; NBCSN, CBC, RDS).

"I don't think so," Bruins coach Claude Julien said when asked if Seidenberg could play in the last game of the series against the Montreal Canadiens.

Told his answer didn't sound like a no, Julien replied, "I'd be very surprised."

The prognosis for Seidenberg's recovery after surgery was 6-8 months of recovery. Seidenberg has been skating for more than a month, including the past several weeks with the team. He took some late contact after the morning skate Monday in Montreal.

In 34 games this season, Seidenberg had one goal, nine assists and a plus-11 rating. In 50 postseason games since joining the Bruins, he has two goals, 13 assists and a plus-14 rating.
