Regin, Versteeg into Blackhawks lineup for Game 5

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Blackhawks will look slightly different for Game 5 of the Western Conference Second Round series against the Minnesota Wild on Sunday at United Center (9 p.m. ET; NBCSN, TSN, RDS).

The best-of-7 Stanley Cup Playoff series is tied 2-2.

Center Peter Regin will be making his Stanley Cup Playoffs debut with Chicago, and left wing Kris Versteeg will be reinserted into the lineup, coach Joel Quenneville said. Quenneville is considering a shakeup of his defense pairings, with Sheldon Brookbank possibly in for Michal Rozsival.

"We'll see," is all Quenneville would say when asked about the possibility of switching defensemen.

Rozsival did not have a good Game 4, making several turnovers in his end during 16:23 of ice time.

Brookbank has played four times this postseason, most recently for Nick Leddy in Game 3 of this series.

The moves up front are confirmed. Left wing Brandon Bollig is unavailable, serving the first of a two-game suspension from the NHL for his hit against Wild defenseman Keith Ballard in Game 4. It also appears right wing Jeremy Morin will be out of the lineup after playing in Games 2 and 4 of this series.

Regin was acquired from the New York Islanders in February to add some depth to the Chicago forwards.

"He's got some speed and quickness, responsible on both sides of the puck," Quenneville said. "[We're] looking to get that element into our game as well."

Regin, who last played April 12 against the Nashville Predators, said he is ready for the challenge of entering the playoffs on the fly.

"Yeah; it's been a little while," Regin said after the morning skate Sunday. "I've been obviously following everything very close. I'm excited to get in there.

"I feel good. We skated real hard, all the guys that haven't played, that kept us in good shape. I'm in good shape and I feel fine. I'm sure I'll be a little jittery the first shift, but after that I'm sure I'll be fine. "

Versteeg was a healthy scratch in Game 4 and Game 1. He played in Games 2 and 3 and had one shot and a minus-1 rating in 16:28 of ice time.

"We're looking for more directness, more pace," Quenneville said of what he wants to see from Versteeg. "We want to get him up to speed where he is contributing with the puck, without the puck and influencing the game at both ends."

Judging by the lines at the morning skate, Versteeg will get that chance; he saw time on the top line with Bryan Bickell and Jonathan Toews during line rushes.
