Detroit Red Wings coach Mike Babcock was a guest of NHL Live to discuss his nomination for the Jack Adams Award.
Despite a franchise-record 421 man games lost due to injury, including injuries to stars Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg, Babcock guided the Red Wings to a 39-28-15 record and into the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the 23rd consecutive season. Detroit lost its Eastern Conference First Round series to the Boston Bruins, 4-1.
"Obviously it's a special award," Babcock said. "Anytime you get nominated it's always a thrill. I'm a big believer that the coach of the year gets to raise the big silver Cup at the end, but it's always nice to be honored."
