Ankle surgery sidelines Flyers' Grossmann

PHILADELPHIA -- Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Nicklas Grossmann will miss 8-10 weeks after having surgery Tuesday to repair a damaged tendon in his right ankle. Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren made the announcement in a press release.

Grossmann was injured in Game 4 of the Flyers' Eastern Conference First Round series against the New York Rangers when he fell into the boards during a battle for the puck with the Rangers' Derick Brassard.

Grossmann had zero points in four playoff games while averaging 16:23 of ice time.

During the regular season, Grossmann had a career-best 14 points in 78 games. He missed the final two games of the regular season with an ankle injury sustained blocking a shot.
