Red Wings expect Bruins to be even better in Game 2

The four Detroit Red Wings who made their Stanley Cup Playoff debut Friday in a 1-0, Game 1 win against the Boston Bruins took some time to reflect Saturday.

"It was a really tough game for the first playoff game," forward Tomas Tatar told the Red Wings website. "I could picture this game coming a little bit later [in the series] than it actually was because it was really tight. It feels to me like the tightest game. I'm glad that I have it behind me and we can refocus on the next game and we don't have to be so shaky and play with a little more confidence."

Pavel Datsyuk scored with 3:01 remaining to give Detroit a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 Eastern Conference First Round series, with Game 2 on Sunday at TD Garden (3 p.m. ET; NBC, RDS, TSN).

According to the Red Wings, it was the latest 1-0 winning goal in any postseason game since Raffi Torres scored with 19 seconds left to give the Vancouver Canucks a win against Boston in Game 1 of the 2011 Stanley Cup Final.

Red Wings forwards Luke Glendening, Riley Sheahan and Tomas Jurco also made his NHL playoff debut. Forward Daniel Alfredsson played his first playoff game for a team other than the Ottawa Senators.

Alfredsson (back) did not participate in practice Saturday, but Detroit coach Mike Babcock said he will use the same lineup he did in Game 1. That includes goaltender Jimmy Howard, who made 25 saves in his 21st playoff win.

"[Boston is] going to push hard. They're going to push hard the whole game," Howard said. "They're going to ratchet it up and we're going to have to answer. It's just part of the playoffs. As each game goes you just try and get better and better. You just play. Like I said [Friday] night, you never know how the game is going to unfold. You go into every game feeling your best but you never know what can happen, so you just go out there and play."

Captain Henrik Zetterberg (back) and defenseman Jonathan Ericsson (hand) skated Saturday, but there is no timetable for their return to the lineup. Game 3 is Tuesday in Detroit.
